Will County, IL: Second Victim, Aurora Woman, Dies Following Peotone Head-On Crash

Peotone, IL — A second person has died following a head-on crash in Peotone Township last week. The incident occurred on Thursday, September 26, when an 82-year-old woman driving a Dodge Grand Caravan crossed the center line on Wilmington-Peotone Road, striking a Chevy Spark driven by 24-year-old Stacy Martinez of Aurora.

The elderly driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Martinez was airlifted to a Chicago hospital in critical condition but died days later from her injuries. According to a family friend, Martinez’s family was not notified of her accident until they reported her missing after she failed to return home that night.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover Martinez’s funeral expenses, with the family seeking to raise $10,000.
