Frankfort, IL – A string of smash-and-grab burglaries targeted businesses in Mokena, Frankfort, and Tinley Park early Friday morning, with at least seven businesses in Mokena affected, some along Route 30. Police are continuing their investigation into the coordinated crimes.
According to Frankfort police, officers responded around 4:30 a.m. to the 20200-block of LaGrange Road after receiving a report from a witness who saw multiple suspects pull up in a grey sedan. The suspects allegedly smashed the glass of three businesses and took items before fleeing the scene.
In Mokena, authorities confirmed that at least seven businesses were hit, with six located along Route 30 and one on LaGrange Road. Tinley Park police also reported three businesses targeted in their area.
Police from the surrounding jurisdictions pursued the suspects’ vehicle as it headed toward Chicago, but the individuals managed to escape.
This latest wave of burglaries follows similar crimes earlier in the week in Downers Grove, where more than 20 commercial businesses were targeted. Authorities are investigating whether the incidents are connected.
