Crete, IL – Deputies with the Will County Sheriff’s Office say two people were caught hiding under a tree with burglary tools late Wednesday night after a suspicious activity call at Balmoral Park on Dixie Highway.
According to the Will County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 8 p.m. on January 24, 2026, when deputies responded to a report of suspicious persons on the racetrack property. Surveillance footage reportedly showed two individuals jumping a fence before landing on the horse racing track.
Deputies tracked fresh footprints in the snow to a tree line, where they found 43-year-old Robert Willison and 32-year-old Megan Green, both of Bourbonnais, allegedly hiding with burglary tools, including a pry bar, wire cutters, and grinder. Both were taken into custody and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
For the January 24 incident, Willison and Green were charged with Criminal Trespass and Possession of Burglary Tools. They are scheduled to appear in court on February 9, 2026, at 9 a.m.
Officials noted this was not their first arrest at Balmoral Park. Willison and Green were previously taken into custody on January 11, 2026, for a separate burglary incident at the same location. In that earlier case, deputies said they found a van containing stolen copper wire and computer parts.
Green also faces charges of Driving with a Suspended License, Uninsured Motor Vehicle Operation, and Theft, along with an active Cook County warrant for Federal Transit Authority trespassing. A third suspect, 31-year-old Elijah Campbell of Kankakee, was also charged in that earlier case.
Authorities emphasize that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
