Will County, IL: Authorities Investigating Death of 14-Year-Old in Wilmington Home Today

Wilmington, IL – A 14-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene this afternoon after emergency crews responded to a report of an unresponsive juvenile at a residence on Fulton Street.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 12:30 p.m. Tuesday to assist the Wilmington Fire Protection District. Family members reportedly attempted CPR before first responders arrived, but the teen was declared deceased upon the arrival of emergency medical personnel.

Due to what authorities described as the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death, the Will/Grundy Major Crimes Task Force was called in to support the ongoing investigation. Officials emphasized there is no known threat to the public, but a police presence will remain on Fulton Street as inquiries continue.

Police are asking residents to avoid the area to allow investigators to process the scene. No additional details about the juvenile’s identity or the nature of the incident have been released at this time.

The police department noted that more information will be made available as the investigation progresses.
