Wichita, Kansas – Thunderstorms are set to return across central and south-central Kansas this weekend, bringing another round of showers and a risk of isolated severe storms, especially late Sunday west of I-135.

According to the US National Weather Service in Wichita, residents should expect off-and-on rain beginning late Friday night and continuing through Sunday. High temperatures will range from the low 60s on Saturday to the upper 70s by Sunday, with lows dropping into the upper 40s and 50s each night.

Scattered storms may impact major routes including I-135 and US-54, leading to brief downpours and localized flooding in low-lying areas. Saturday night could see increased thunderstorm activity, and a few stronger storms may develop late Sunday, particularly in areas west of I-135. Wichita, Hutchinson, and Winfield are among the cities likely to experience unsettled weather through the weekend.

Residents are advised to stay weather-aware, avoid flooded roads, and secure outdoor items. Be prepared for rapidly changing conditions, especially on Sunday if severe storms develop.

Storm chances continue through Sunday night, and additional alerts may be issued as conditions evolve. Check for updates and stay tuned to local agencies for the latest information.
