Wichita, KS – Heavy rainfall has prompted flash flood warnings in Kingman County. The US National Weather Service (NWS) in Wichita reports over four inches of rain has fallen, with rates of 1-2 inches per hour expected to continue. Residents are urged to avoid driving through flooded roadways and move to higher ground.

According to the NWS, the flash flood warning will remain in effect until 7:15 AM CDT on Sunday. The affected area includes central Kingman County, where the rapid rainfall has led to significant water accumulation. The warning also highlights potential exposure risks for nearly 4,000 residents, including two schools and one hospital.

Today’s forecast predicts a high of 82°F with continued cloudiness and heavy rain. As the week progresses, temperatures are expected to rise significantly. Monday will see a high of 96°F with clear skies, followed by a scorching 101°F on Tuesday. Rain is anticipated to return on Wednesday, with a 50% chance of showers and a high of 84°F. The weather will stabilize on Thursday, offering sunny conditions and a high of 92°F.
