Pittsburgh, PA – Rain showers moving in from the west will impact the Pittsburgh area through Wednesday, with a chance of snow mixing north and west of the city. While accumulation is not expected today, residents are urged to plan for wet and potentially slick conditions during their afternoon commute.
According to the National Weather Service, rain will persist through the day, becoming heavier at times before tapering off around 5 p.m. High temperatures are forecast near 41 degrees, with northeast winds shifting to the north later in the afternoon. Areas outside of Pittsburgh, including parts of I-80 and rural counties, may see brief periods of snow as temperatures hover near freezing.
Thursday offers a brief reprieve with mostly cloudy skies and cooler conditions. Daytime highs will reach only 37 degrees, with light winds offering little relief from the chill. Residents can expect calmer conditions overnight, with lows dipping into the upper 20s.
However, the weather pattern grows more active heading into the weekend. By Friday, rain returns to the region, accompanied by a mix of snow as temperatures fall into the mid-30s. Friday night brings a heightened chance for all-snow accumulation, with the potential for slippery roads across highways like I-79 and Route 22.
Saturday will clear out with partly sunny skies, but temperatures will struggle to reach 30 degrees, making it one of the coldest days of the week. Overnight lows could plunge to 17 degrees, prompting concerns for freezing conditions through early Sunday morning.
Residents are encouraged to monitor forecasts closely, especially for potential snowfall impacts on Friday night. Drivers should prepare for slower commutes and ensure vehicles are winter-ready.
