Pittsburgh, PA – Light snow and frigid temperatures will sweep through western Pennsylvania Tuesday afternoon, bringing subzero wind chills to much of the region. Forecasters expect snow to begin between 3 and 4 p.m., affecting Pittsburgh and surrounding areas.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pittsburgh, snowfall will remain light, with most areas seeing under one inch of accumulation. However, elevated regions, including ridges, may experience higher totals. The snow is expected to taper off by 9 p.m., leaving a biting chill in its wake.

Wind chills are forecast to drop to 0°F or lower overnight. A cold weather advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Wednesday for areas likely to experience the harshest conditions. Temperatures Tuesday night will dip into the teens, while strong winds will make it feel significantly colder.

NWS warns residents to dress in layers and avoid prolonged exposure to the cold. “Keep pets indoors and check on vulnerable neighbors,” advised meteorologists in their latest update.

The NWS also noted a low probability of heavier snow bursts in parts of Mercer, Venango, and Forest counties around 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Those traveling should prepare for slick roads and reduced visibility during the evening hours.

With snow clearing out by early Wednesday, chilly conditions will persist into the morning hours before a gradual warming trend later in the week.
