Butler, PA – Two brief tornadoes touched down in Butler County on Wednesday evening, leaving behind minor structural damage and downed trees near Northvue and Jamisonville.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, both EF-0 tornadoes struck within minutes of each other on May 21st, 2025. The first touched down at 4:37 p.m. near Northvue with peak winds of 85 mph, damaging a salt dome and trees near North Main Street. Just three minutes later, another EF-0 tornado hit near Jamisonville, snapping trees along Mack Road.

Both tornadoes were spawned from the same storm system but followed discontinuous paths, which led officials to classify them as separate events. No injuries or fatalities were reported, though each path left clear signs of damage—one stretching 0.36 miles in Northvue, the other 0.25 miles in Jamisonville.

Residents are urged to stay weather-aware as spring storms continue across western Pennsylvania. These tornadoes mark the 28th and 29th recorded in Butler County since 1888, and the first since October 2021.

Additional storm surveys are ongoing in neighboring Allegheny and Washington counties, with more updates expected later today.
