Cleveland, OH – Residents across northern Ohio and western Pennsylvania should prepare for snow showers and freezing rain this weekend, creating hazardous travel conditions. Temperatures will stay in the 20s Friday night before light snow moves into the region Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service, snow showers will develop Saturday afternoon and could mix with freezing rain by evening, especially in areas near Lake Erie and western Pennsylvania. Accumulations are expected to remain light, with less than an inch of snow and trace amounts of ice possible. However, untreated roads may become slick, particularly along major routes such as Interstate 90 and U.S. Route 30.

Saturday’s high will reach 38°F, providing some relief from the frigid conditions earlier in the week, but precipitation may linger into the night. By Sunday, a stronger system will bring widespread rain, with temperatures climbing to 44°F.

Drivers are advised to monitor weather updates and allow extra travel time, especially on elevated surfaces like bridges and overpasses, which are prone to freezing. Make sure vehicles are winter-ready and stocked with essentials.

Looking ahead, Monday brings even warmer weather, with highs near 54°F, followed by more rain and breezy conditions. By Tuesday, partly sunny skies are expected, with highs near 46°F, offering a brief respite from the winter weather.

Stay tuned for updated forecasts, as changing conditions could impact snow and ice totals.
