Pittsburgh, PA – The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a Frost Advisory for much of western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, and northern West Virginia from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday, as clear skies and light winds set the stage for widespread frost.

The advisory includes Allegheny, Beaver, Mercer, Lawrence, Greene, and Washington Counties in Pennsylvania; Columbiana County in Ohio; and Hancock, Monongalia, and Preston Counties in West Virginia. Additional frost conditions are expected farther west in Tuscarawas, Jefferson, Belmont, and Guernsey Counties in Ohio.

Forecasters say temperatures will dip to around 33–35 degrees, allowing frost to form on lawns, rooftops, and vehicles overnight. Sensitive outdoor vegetation could be damaged or killed if left unprotected.

Residents are advised to cover flowers, gardens, and potted plants before midnight, and commuters should expect light frost on windshields during early morning hours. By mid-morning Friday, sunshine will help temperatures rebound into the upper 50s, ending frost formation.

This event marks one of the first widespread frost occurrences of the fall season for the Pittsburgh metro area and nearby valleys, signaling the shift toward late-autumn weather.
