Buffalo, NY – Western New York is in for a messy weather pattern as rain and snow showers move through Buffalo starting late Wednesday night. Temperatures will hover in the mid-30s before dipping below freezing by Thursday night, bringing a mix of precipitation that could create slick road conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, showers will begin after 1 a.m. Thursday, with an 80% chance of rain overnight. As temperatures drop, expect a transition to light snow by Thursday night, especially after 11 p.m. New snowfall amounts will remain under an inch, but wet surfaces could freeze as lows hit 22°F.
Friday remains mostly cloudy with a slight chance of afternoon snow showers and a high near 36°F. Winds will shift from the northwest to the southwest by evening, with gusts up to 25 mph.
Looking ahead, the weekend turns colder, with highs in the low 30s Saturday and a low of 13°F by Saturday night. Snow showers are possible both days, though accumulation remains uncertain.
Drivers should use caution on I-90 and other roadways, especially during overnight hours when freezing conditions are most likely.
