Buffalo, NY – A lakeshore flood warning remains in effect for western New York until 4 a.m. Tuesday, impacting areas along Lake Erie. Residents in Erie and Chautauqua counties should prepare for rising water levels and potential flooding.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), flooding is expected along Route 5 in Hamburg, Buffalo Harbor, and Dunkirk Harbor. Significant shoreline erosion and hazardous conditions at breakwaters, piers, and beaches are anticipated. Officials urge residents to avoid these areas and use caution while traveling near flood zones.

The rapid rise in water levels and high wave action may cause local road closures and debris. Prepare now by securing outdoor items and avoiding low-lying areas.

Looking ahead, the region will face snow and freezing conditions through midweek. Stay updated through weather alerts and exercise caution while driving.
