Residents in the Buffalo area can expect lake effect snow showers beginning Monday night, just in time for last-minute holiday travel. The National Weather Service forecasts highs struggling to break 20°F today, with temperatures dipping to 11°F tonight. Monday will bring a brief warm-up to 35°F, but snow is likely to develop late in the evening, continuing into Tuesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, Monday night’s snow could bring accumulations of up to three inches, making roads slick and visibility low for drivers on Interstate 90 and Route 33. Travelers should plan extra time and use caution, especially during the evening commute and early Tuesday morning.

Tuesday will see a mix of rain and snow with highs near 36°F, while Christmas Day promises a partly sunny respite with highs around 36°F. Another chance of snow arrives later in the week as temperatures fluctuate, with Thursday and Friday offering highs in the upper 30s and mostly cloudy skies.

Wind chills will remain a concern, with real-feel temperatures falling below zero at times early in the week. Residents are encouraged to bundle up and check on neighbors, particularly the elderly or those without reliable heating.

Stay tuned for updates on evolving weather conditions, and plan ahead for a safe and enjoyable holiday season.
