Hastings, NE – Drivers in western Nebraska are waking up to patches of fog this morning, especially in areas west of Highway 183, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Hastings. The fog is expected to lift by mid-morning as skies turn partly cloudy.
Temperatures will stay mild through the weekend, with highs ranging from the upper 70s to low 80s and lows dipping into the upper 40s and 50s. The NWS reports a 15–20% chance of isolated thunderstorms Friday night and another round of 10–15% storm chances late Sunday.
Friday and Sunday’s storms are expected to remain scattered and brief, mainly during the overnight hours. Saturday should stay mostly overcast but dry, offering a break between potential rain events.
Winds will stay light to moderate through the forecast period—shifting from the south today at 10–15 mph to southeast Saturday before increasing slightly Sunday night.
The NWS advises motorists to use caution this morning when traveling through fog-prone areas, as visibility may drop quickly west of Highway 183.
Residents can expect generally dry daytime conditions through early next week, with temperatures remaining unseasonably warm for early October.
