Ohio — Headlights glow against wet pavement this morning as light snow drifts through the Ohio Valley, turning bridges slick before sunrise.

A fast-moving arctic cold front is pushing through southern Ohio, dropping temperatures quickly below freezing. Light snow showers continue early, with up to a half inch possible in spots. Gusty west winds near 30 mph are accelerating the freeze, creating icy patches on untreated roads.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, snow showers will taper by late morning, but slick conditions may linger on bridges and overpasses. The morning commute is most affected, especially along I-71, I-75, I-74, and river crossings around downtown Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

Temperatures hover near 30 degrees early, then fall into the 20s behind the front. Wind chills remain uncomfortable through midday. Drivers should reduce speed, increase following distance, and avoid sudden braking. Pedestrians should watch for icy sidewalks and steps.

Skies gradually clear later today, allowing sunshine to return. Even so, melting snow may refreeze quickly after sunset. Tonight turns colder, with lows dropping into the mid-20s under mostly clear skies.

Saturday brings a noticeable warm-up. Sunshine dominates, and highs rebound near 49 degrees, offering improved travel conditions. Sunday stays dry and cooler, with highs near 38 degrees. By early next week, temperatures climb again, but rain chances increase late Monday night into Tuesday.

Looking ahead to Christmas Travel, meteorologists are monitoring a developing pattern that could bring unsettled weather late next week. While no major storm is confirmed, temperature swings could support rain changing to snow if colder air arrives.

Plan extra time this morning, and stay weather-aware as winter settles in.
