Grand Rapids, MI – Light snow is forecast to develop Tuesday morning across southern Lower Michigan, potentially making roads slick for drivers. The National Weather Service reports snow accumulations will remain light, with less than 2 inches expected, mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces.
According to the National Weather Service, the snowfall will begin early Tuesday and persist into the evening, with heavier bursts possible during the morning commute. Road conditions could deteriorate, especially on untreated surfaces and major roadways like I-96 and US-131. Drivers are advised to reduce speeds and allow extra travel time.
By Tuesday evening, temperatures are expected to hover around 31°F, with a chance of additional rain or snow mixing in before tapering off. Winds will come from the northeast at 10 mph, with gusts up to 23 mph, adding to the potential for icy spots.
The extended forecast indicates colder conditions through the New Year, with highs in the mid-20s by Thursday. Snow showers remain possible Friday night into Saturday, though no significant accumulation is expected.
Residents are encouraged to monitor weather updates and prepare for potentially hazardous travel conditions. Ensure vehicles are winter-ready, and use caution when traveling during snow bursts.
