Tulsa, OK — A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect this morning across southeast Oklahoma and west-central Arkansas, reducing visibility to less than a quarter mile in some areas. Motorists traveling on major roadways, including I-40 and I-44, are urged to drive with caution during the morning commute.
According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, the advisory extends through 9 a.m., with the most severe fog conditions impacting low-lying areas. Drivers are advised to use low-beam headlights, reduce speed, and leave extra space between vehicles. Rapid changes in visibility can create hazardous conditions.
After the fog lifts, Monday afternoon will bring partly sunny skies and mild temperatures, with a high near 65 degrees. Tuesday, New Year’s Eve, promises clear and sunny weather, offering a bright start to festivities. Temperatures will climb into the mid-40s during the day before dropping to the low 40s overnight.
Looking ahead, New Year’s Day will feature sunny skies and a high of 44 degrees, with calm winds creating comfortable conditions for outdoor plans. However, fire weather risks remain a concern in northeast Oklahoma, including Pawnee, Osage, and Creek counties, due to dry grasslands and gusty winds. Residents are encouraged to avoid outdoor burning and secure any flammable materials.
Plan for patchy fog again Tuesday morning, but conditions will quickly improve. The week ahead promises mild temperatures and mostly sunny skies, providing a favorable start to 2025.
