Grand Rapids, MI – Rain showers and dense fog will linger across southwest Michigan today, giving way to colder conditions midweek with snow showers possible. Drivers are urged to exercise caution, as fog may reduce visibility, especially through the morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, patchy fog and rain will dominate Monday morning before tapering off in the afternoon. Temperatures will peak around 48 degrees, with winds shifting southwest and gusting up to 22 mph. Rainfall amounts could range from a tenth to a quarter inch.

By tonight, a slight chance of drizzle and patchy fog will remain before skies partially clear. Temperatures are expected to drop to the low 30s, increasing the risk of freezing fog in some areas.

Looking Ahead: Tuesday brings mostly cloudy skies and cooler conditions with highs in the upper 30s. By late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, a mix of rain and snow showers may develop, creating slick spots on roads. The system is expected to intensify by Wednesday afternoon, with a 50% chance of snow accumulation and temperatures hovering near freezing.

Thursday could bring heavier snow showers as colder air moves into the region. Accumulations remain light for now, but slippery conditions are likely during commutes. Winds could pick up midweek, adding to travel concerns.

Residents are encouraged to prepare for fluctuating weather, including freezing temperatures and light snow, which may affect travel. Those heading out this week should stay updated on forecasts and allow extra time for commutes during foggy or snowy conditions.
