Blacksburg, VA – Rainy weather and warmer-than-usual temperatures will kick off the work week across Blacksburg, but a sharp drop in temperatures is expected later in the week. Residents should prepare for a mix of rain, fog, and possible mountain snow as conditions shift dramatically.

According to the National Weather Service, light rain and patchy fog are expected on Monday with temperatures reaching a high near 51 degrees. Monday night will bring additional rain showers, particularly after 3 a.m., as temperatures hover in the mid-40s.

Tuesday will begin with cloudy skies before clearing gradually in the afternoon. High temperatures will climb to the low 60s, offering a brief respite from colder conditions. However, showers return Tuesday night, with a 30% chance of rain and a low near 43 degrees.

By Wednesday, rain will pick up again, and temperatures are expected to peak in the low 60s. Showers are likely, particularly during the day, with a chance of lingering rain overnight as temperatures fall into the mid-30s.

A dramatic change arrives Thursday. Conditions will turn noticeably colder, with highs only reaching the low 40s. Winds will shift, and mountain areas could see scattered snow showers and flurries by Thursday night. Overnight lows are forecasted to drop into the upper 20s, marking the week’s coldest stretch.

Residents are encouraged to drive cautiously during periods of rain and fog early this week, particularly along major routes. Prepare for colder air later this week and monitor updates on potential snowfall for higher elevations.
