Paducah, KY – Residents across western Kentucky should prepare for a stormy weekend as heavy rainfall and potential flash flooding are expected. The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch from late Friday night through Saturday evening, with rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches and localized amounts up to 6 inchespossible.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, excessive runoff may cause flooding in rivers, creeks, and low-lying areas. Soils are already saturated, increasing the risk of flash flooding. Motorists should avoid flood-prone roads, especially in rural areas and near riverbanks. Winds could reach up to 24 mph, adding to hazardous conditions.
Saturday’s high will be 56°F, with thunderstorms likely throughout the day. Showers will continue into early Sunday, with temperatures dropping to 32°F overnight. A colder pattern follows next week, with highs in the 30s and overnight lows in the teens.
