Wilmington, OH – A strong winter storm is set to impact Wilmington and surrounding areas this weekend, bringing a mix of rain, freezing rain, and snow. Residents should prepare for hazardous travel conditions, especially on bridges and overpasses, as ice accumulation is possible Friday night.
According to the National Weather Service, light snow could develop early Saturday morning before turning to heavy rain. Rainfall will continue throughout the day, with temperatures peaking in the mid-40s. Overnight, as temperatures drop to the low 30s, rain may transition into a wintry mix.
By Sunday, snowfall is expected, with accumulations near an inch. Winds will increase, with gusts reaching 21 mph, reducing visibility and making roads even more treacherous. The high will only reach the mid-30s before plunging to 15°F overnight.
Washington’s Birthday on Monday will bring a break in precipitation but much colder temperatures, with a high near 23°F. Monday night will see lows around 7°F before another round of snow moves in Tuesday.
Residents should monitor forecasts closely, allow extra travel time, and prepare for rapidly changing conditions. Road crews will be working, but delays are likely as icy conditions persist.
