St. Louis, MO – Westbound I-64 is closed at 22nd Street following a crash that has caused significant delays for drivers.

According to MoDOT, the incident occurred early Friday morning, forcing traffic off the interstate near downtown St. Louis. Officials anticipate the closure will remain in place for several hours as crews work to clear the scene.

Drivers traveling westbound on I-64 should plan alternate routes to avoid the congestion. Local streets and surrounding highways are experiencing heavier-than-usual traffic as a result.

Authorities have not yet released details about the crash, including the number of vehicles involved or whether there are injuries. MoDOT advises motorists to monitor traffic updates for reopening announcements.

For those commuting through the area, officials recommend taking I-44 or I-70 to bypass the affected stretch of I-64. Law enforcement urges drivers to exercise caution as they navigate the detours.

Stay tuned for updates as crews work to reopen the interstate.
