Charleston, WV – After a cool midweek stretch, West Virginia residents should prepare for a warmer but unsettled end to the week, with showers and thunderstorms developing from Thursday night and continuing through early Monday.
According to the National Weather Service Charleston WV, the first round of rain and scattered thunderstorms is expected to arrive Thursday evening, primarily impacting the lowlands and mountain areas with lows in the 50s and highs in the mid-60s. The activity will carry into Friday with warmer conditions and highs climbing into the upper 60s and mid-70s.
Saturday may offer a temporary break with only isolated afternoon showers, but storm chances return late Saturday night. Another round of widespread showers and thunderstorms is forecast to continue through Sunday evening and into Monday morning. Some of these storms could be strong, with potential wind gusts and localized downpours.
Mountain temperatures will remain cooler, ranging from the mid-30s to mid-50s throughout the week. Lowland areas will trend warmer, especially over the weekend.
