Charleston, WV – A Flood Watch remains in effect for portions of West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio through 11 a.m. Monday as heavy rain continues to raise the risk of flash flooding. Excessive rainfall has already begun to saturate the region, with rivers, creeks, and streams expected to rise, potentially flooding low-lying areas and prone locations.

According to the National Weather Service, the flood risk extends across counties including Boyd, Carter, and Greenup in Kentucky, Gallia and Lawrence in Ohio, and Boone, Kanawha, Cabell, Mingo, and other areas in West Virginia. While widespread severe flooding is not anticipated, localized flash flooding remains a significant concern, especially in areas near streams and rivers.

Residents in flood-prone areas should stay alert for any changes in weather conditions. Flash Flood Warnings could be issued if conditions worsen overnight. Roads near creeks, rivers, and streams could become impassable, so drivers are urged to avoid low-lying areas or areas that are prone to flooding.

The National Weather Service advises monitoring updates and being prepared to take action if necessary. More details are available through local weather channels or at weather.gov/rlx.

As the rain continues, a reminder to stay prepared for possible impacts and monitor conditions closely until the Flood Watch expires on Monday morning.
