Charleston, WV – The National Weather Service has issued a Frost Advisory for parts of West Virginia’s mountain regions tonight, with temperatures expected to fall near freezing. The advisory affects areas most prone to frost, especially in protected mountain valleys.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures as low as 34 degrees could cause frost formation in parts of Pocahontas, Southeast Webster, and Southeast Randolph counties. The advisory is in effect from late tonight through Sunday morning.

Residents in the advisory zone are urged to take precautions to protect sensitive outdoor plants. Frost can damage or kill uncovered vegetation, particularly tender plants, if left exposed overnight. The National Weather Service recommends covering plants or moving them indoors, where possible.
