Morgantown, WV — A blizzard warning has been issued for Eastern Preston and Eastern Tucker counties, bringing up to 7 inches of snow and wind gusts as high as 60 mph from Sunday afternoon through Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, the blizzard warning is in effect from 1 p.m. Sunday until 3 p.m. Monday. Cities including Canaan Valley, Davis, Thomas, and Terra Alta are expected to face hazardous conditions, with strong winds threatening power lines and trees.

Travel could become extremely difficult, especially during the Monday morning commute. Wind gusts could cause whiteout conditions and significant power outages.

Residents are advised to avoid travel if possible and prepare for potential power losses. Secure outdoor items and ensure emergency supplies, such as food, water, and flashlights, are readily available. If travel is necessary, keep a winter emergency kit in your vehicle.

This blizzard is expected to bring severe weather not commonly seen in the region, making preparation essential for residents in the affected counties.
