West-Central Wisconsin – The National Weather Service has issued a cold weather advisory for west-central Wisconsin, beginning Saturday night. Temperatures are expected to plunge, with wind chills reaching a dangerous -35°F by Sunday morning.
According to the advisory, the warning will remain in effect from 9 p.m. Saturday through noon Tuesday. These extreme conditions can cause frostbite on exposed skin within 10 minutes. Hypothermia is also a risk with prolonged exposure. The advisory includes counties such as Polk, Dunn, Pepin, and Eau Claire.
Residents should dress in layers, covering exposed skin when outdoors, and check on vulnerable neighbors and relatives. Pets should remain indoors, and portable heaters must be used safely.
Meteorologists predict this cold snap will intensify Sunday evening before easing Tuesday. Authorities stress avoiding unnecessary travel during peak cold.
