Chicago, IL – After days of bitter cold and dangerous wind chills, Chicago will see a noticeable warm-up heading into the weekend. Temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 30s by Sunday, a significant shift from recent frigid conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, Thursday’s high will reach just 24°F, with wind chills dropping near zero. Overnight lows will dip into the single digits, but conditions begin improving by Friday, which will be sunny with a high of 26°F. The warming trend continues Saturday, bringing sunshine and a high near 30°F, followed by a milder 38°F on Sunday.
While the cold is easing, residents should remain cautious of icy sidewalks and roads, especially early in the mornings. Wind chills may still be near zero at night, though the worst of the arctic front has passed.
Next week, temperatures rise further, with highs in the 40s by Tuesday and a chance of rain midweek. This shift signals the first real break from winter’s deep freeze, offering relief for Chicagoans eager for spring-like conditions.
