Hastings, NE – After days of extreme cold, a warming trend is set to arrive in Hastings, bringing relief from dangerous wind chills. However, frigid conditions will persist overnight into Friday, with wind chills as low as -25°F before temperatures start to climb.

According to the National Weather Service, the extreme cold warning remains in effect until noon Thursday, with overnight lows reaching -21°F. By Friday, temperatures will begin to rise, hitting a high near 18°F, though wind chills will still feel below zero. Warmer air moves in over the weekend, with Saturday’s high near 36°F and Sunday reaching 44°F under sunny skies.

Residents should continue to dress in layers and limit outdoor exposure through Friday morning. Pipes remain at risk of freezing due to prolonged subzero conditions. By early next week, highs will approach 60°F, marking a significant shift from this week’s deep freeze.
