Quad Cities, IL – A late-season snow event brought a coating of wet, heavy snow to parts of southeast Iowa and northern Illinois on Wednesday night, with accumulations reaching over three inches in some locations.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, the highest totals were recorded in Stronghurst, IL, with 3.2 inches, and Prairie City, IL, with 3.0 inches. Other notable snowfall amounts included La Harpe (2.8 inches), Biggsville (2.6 inches), and West Burlington, IA (2.1 inches).

The snow resulted from rain transitioning into a wet snow mix as temperatures dropped. Most of the accumulation occurred on grassy and elevated surfaces, though some slushy spots were reported on roads in Illinois.

Satellite imagery showed two distinct snow bands—one stretching across northeast Iowa and another extending from southeast Iowa into the Chicago area. Forecasters noted that heavier snowfall remained confined to these narrow bands, with lower totals in surrounding regions.

For ongoing weather updates, residents are encouraged to check with the National Weather Service or local authorities for the latest forecasts and road conditions.
