By 6 p.m., thunderstorms could form in some areas, particularly near and east of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Temperatures will drop significantly through the evening, with urban areas falling into the 40s and 50s by 9 p.m., while mountain regions will see temperatures dip into the 30s. Winds are expected to strengthen, creating blustery conditions, particularly along and east of Interstate 95.
