Spokane, WA – Stevens Pass and surrounding areas in Western Chelan County are under a Winter Weather Advisory until 11 a.m. Thursday, followed by a Winter Storm Warning beginning 5 p.m. Thursday and lasting until 5 a.m. Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Spokane, snowfall accumulations of 5 to 10 inches are expected through Thursday morning under the advisory. The storm warning, which takes effect Thursday evening, predicts 10 to 18 inches of additional snow for Stevens Pass, accompanied by wind gusts up to 35 mph.
The snowfall and high winds are expected to create hazardous travel conditions, particularly along mountain passes. Drivers are urged to slow down, use caution, and prepare for difficult travel. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) advises carrying an emergency kit with essentials such as a flashlight, food, and water in case of delays.
