Spokane, WA – Rain and patchy fog are set to impact travel conditions across Spokane this weekend, with visibility dropping below a quarter mile on some roadways Saturday morning. The National Weather Service has also warned of potential black ice, particularly on highways and in lower-lying areas like the North Columbia Basin.
According to the National Weather Service, patchy fog will linger Friday night into early Saturday, clearing by mid-morning. Rain is forecast to arrive late Saturday afternoon, continuing into the evening, with temperatures reaching a high of 45°F. Overnight lows will hover near 38°F, increasing the chance of slick road surfaces, especially on Interstate 90 and secondary roads.
Sunday brings another round of rain, with precipitation chances at 60% throughout the day. Fog may develop early but should dissipate by mid-morning. Drivers are urged to take precautions, especially in low-visibility areas, and reduce speed where black ice is possible.
The extended forecast predicts more wet weather into next week. Monday offers a slight reprieve with only a 20% chance of rain, though conditions remain mostly cloudy. By Tuesday, rain will likely return, with highs reaching 42°F.
Travelers are advised to allow extra time for commutes and monitor local weather updates. Pedestrians should exercise caution on sidewalks, as icy patches may form overnight.
