Spokane, Wash. – Bright sunshine is already stretching across eastern Washington this Sunday, and the warmest days of the week are rapidly approaching. Dry grass, warming pavement, and increasingly hot afternoons will become more noticeable with each passing day.
According to the National Weather Service, Spokane will reach about 85 degrees Sunday before temperatures climb to 86 degrees Monday, 91 degrees Tuesday, and 94 degrees Wednesday. Skies remain mostly clear through the period, with only limited cloud cover expected by midweek.
The warming trend reflects a broader weather pattern developing across the western United States. While severe thunderstorms, flash flooding, large hail, and isolated tornadoes remain concerns across portions of the Plains and Midwest, eastern Washington is preparing for a prolonged stretch of dry summer weather.
Drivers along Interstate 90, U.S. Highway 2, and State Route 195 should encounter excellent visibility and favorable road conditions. However, afternoon temperatures will become increasingly uncomfortable inside vehicles and on exposed pavement.
Meteorologists continue tracking a strengthening ridge of high pressure over the Pacific Northwest. Latest weather data shows temperatures rising nearly 10 degrees between Sunday and Wednesday. Overnight lows remain relatively comfortable, generally falling into the 50s.
For now, wildfire concerns remain something to watch closely across the region. Dry vegetation combined with warmer temperatures can elevate fire danger, especially if winds increase later in the week.
