Spokane, WA – A blast of Arctic air is bringing dangerously cold temperatures and heavy snow to Spokane, making travel hazardous through the weekend. A Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon Wednesday, with temperatures dropping as low as -18°F in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Spokane, freezing fog will linger Wednesday morning before giving way to sunshine, but road conditions will remain slick. Snow showers are expected to begin Thursday afternoon, with up to 8 inches of accumulation possible by Saturday night.

Friday and Saturday will see the heaviest snowfall, particularly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday, leading to difficult driving conditions on Interstate 90 and U.S. Route 2. Wind chills will make temperatures feel even colder, increasing the risk of hypothermia and frostbite.

Residents are urged to dress warmly, limit time outdoors, and prepare for icy roads and reduced visibility. Those traveling for Valentine’s weekend should monitor conditions and allow extra travel time.

Looking ahead, Sunday remains cold with additional snow likely. By Monday, a mix of rain and snow may create slushy road conditions across the Spokane area.
