Aberdeen, Washington – Drivers along U.S. 101 west of Lake Crescent are already seeing snow stick to pavement, and more quick bursts could turn roads slick with little warning through Tuesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Seattle, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon PST Tuesday for the Willapa and Black Hills, Southern Hood Canal, Lake Crescent area including U.S. 101, the Lower Chehalis River Valley and the foothills of the Olympic Peninsula. Snow showers will bring 1 to 3 inches of accumulation, with heavier bursts capable of coating roads in minutes.

Snow potential will gradually shift south from the northern Olympic Peninsula toward Grays Harbor and Hood Canal tonight. Communities including Forks, Hoquiam, Montesano, Pe Ell, Skokomish and Aberdeen could see slick bridges and overpasses during the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes as temperatures hover in the low to mid 30s.

Localized heavier showers may sharply reduce visibility and create sudden icy patches, especially on elevated roadways and shaded stretches. Residents should slow down, allow extra stopping distance and prepare for isolated power outages where snow weighs down tree limbs.

Conditions improve after noon Tuesday, but drivers should continue monitoring WSDOT travel maps for updated road impacts.
