Seattle, WA – Two earthquakes struck near Seattle on Saturday, shaking communities and prompting hundreds of reports of shaking.
The first earthquake, a magnitude 3.5 tremor, hit 8 kilometers north-northeast of Snoqualmie at 1:35 p.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The quake occurred at a depth of 16.3 kilometers and generated a community intensity level of IV, with light shaking reported.
Later in the evening, a smaller 2.8-magnitude quake struck 8 kilometers east-northeast of Fall City at 5:03 p.m. This earthquake originated at a depth of 17.3 kilometers. Residents across the area, including parts of Seattle, Bellevue, and Redmond, reported feeling the ground move.
The USGS recorded over 1,000 responses to its “Did You Feel It?” platform, though the total number of those who felt the quakes may be much higher.
Local authorities have reported no significant damage or injuries related to the earthquakes. Experts remind residents to stay prepared as the Pacific Northwest remains a seismically active region.
