Stevens Pass, WA – Snowfall could reach up to 20 inches across Western Chelan County by Saturday afternoon, potentially disrupting holiday travel. Motorists using Stevens Pass are urged to prepare for hazardous conditions and possible road closures.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through Saturday at 4 p.m. Snow began early Friday and will intensify, especially in areas near Holden Village and Stehekin. Drivers are encouraged to check pass conditions for avalanche control updates and slow down while traveling.

The NWS warns that snow-packed roads will significantly impact travel along key highways, with reduced visibility and icy surfaces expected. Those traveling should carry chains, extra blankets, and emergency supplies. The storm’s strongest impacts are forecast between late Friday night and midday Saturday, creating potential travel bottlenecks across the region.

Looking ahead, light snow may linger Sunday, with clearer skies and temperatures dipping below freezing into early next week. Residents should prepare for icy conditions as melted snow refreezes overnight. Further east, temperatures in Spokane and surrounding areas remain chilly, though no significant precipitation is expected beyond Saturday evening.
