Salt Lake City, UT – Significant snowfall is forecast for Utah’s Central Mountains, including Cove Fort, Fish Lake, and Joes Valley, as a winter weather advisory remains in effect until 11 p.m. Friday. Drivers in the area are urged to use extreme caution, with 6 to 12 inches of snow expected to accumulate by the evening.

The National Weather Service warns that the storm could cause hazardous travel conditions along key routes, especially Skyline Drive east of Manti, which is likely to see higher snowfall totals. Those traveling through the region should plan for delays and ensure vehicles are equipped for winter conditions.

Local Impact and Travel Precautions

Snowfall is expected to be heaviest in the late afternoon and evening hours Friday, reducing visibility and creating slick roadways. U.S. Route 89 and other mountain passes may become particularly dangerous. Officials recommend carrying tire chains, an emergency kit, and additional supplies, as conditions could deteriorate rapidly.

Stay prepared, and take steps now to ensure safe travel through Utah’s Central Mountains this weekend.
