Spokane, Wash. – Triple-digit temperatures are gripping Eastern Washington and North Idaho, with a Heat Advisory remaining in effect through 9 p.m. Tuesday for cities from Spokane and Lewiston to Omak and Coeur d’Alene.

According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, high temperatures between 91°F and 101°F are expected across the region, with overnight lows staying in the 60s—offering little relief. The advisory spans dozens of communities including Pullman, Tonasket, Leavenworth, Post Falls, and the Idaho Palouse.

The prolonged heat increases the risk of heat-related illnesses, especially for vulnerable groups without access to air conditioning. Health officials urge residents to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activity during peak heat, and check on neighbors and pets. Cooling centers may be available locally; residents should consult city or county websites for locations.

Despite the summer-like highs, rivers and lakes remain cold, posing risks for swimmers and boaters. Roadways and outdoor surfaces may also be dangerously hot by mid-afternoon, increasing the potential for burns or equipment failure.

The advisory affects key travel routes including U.S. Highways 2 and 95, and stretches across multiple mountain passes including Lookout and Sherman.
