Las Vegas, Nevada – Residents across southern Nevada, western Arizona, and inland California face life-threatening heat through 10 p.m. Tuesday, with highs soaring as much as 15 degrees above normal for early June.

According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, an Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect for the Las Vegas Valley, Lake Mead, Death Valley National Park, and surrounding areas. Daytime highs will range from 105–110°F in Las Vegas, Pahrump, and Barstow, with Mesquite and areas near Lake Mead peaking near 115°F. Furnace Creek in Death Valley could see highs push 120°F.

City infrastructure and outdoor workers are under pressure. In Las Vegas, cooling centers have extended hours. In Barstow and Bullhead City, officials urge limiting outdoor activities to early morning or evening. Car interiors can reach fatal temperatures in minutes—never leave pets or children in vehicles.

Outdoor laborers are advised to schedule shaded breaks and hydrate frequently. Heat-related illnesses can escalate quickly, especially among seniors and vulnerable populations.

This heat event may challenge early-summer records and significantly increase energy demand.

Warnings remain in effect through Tuesday night. More alerts could be issued if the heat persists into midweek.
