Blacksburg, VA – A winter weather advisory remains in effect through 1 p.m. Thursday as a storm system brings snow to the region. Motorists should expect hazardous travel conditions, particularly during the morning and evening commutes.
According to the National Weather Service, snowfall will continue Wednesday into Thursday, with total accumulations ranging from 2 to 4 inches. Winds could create additional hazards, leading to reduced visibility and icy patches on roads, sidewalks, and driveways. Officials advise residents to drive cautiously and check updated road conditions by dialing 511.
Thursday’s high will reach 32°F, with snow showers tapering off by the afternoon. Overnight temperatures will drop to 14°F, with mostly cloudy skies. Friday brings relief, with sunny skies and a high near 32°F, followed by a frigid night at 13°F.
By the weekend, a warming trend begins. Saturday will be mostly sunny with highs in the mid-40s, and Sunday will reach near 44°F, signaling a brief break from winter’s grip.
Residents should monitor forecasts and prepare for slippery conditions. Those traveling Wednesday night into Thursday morning should allow extra time and use caution.
