Wakefield, VA – A warming trend is on the horizon for Virginia this weekend, with temperatures climbing steadily after a frigid start. Residents can expect a mix of sunshine and clouds, making it an ideal time to enjoy outdoor activities.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday will remain chilly with highs near 34 degrees, but a calm northwest wind will keep conditions bearable. Overnight lows will dip to 14 degrees under partly cloudy skies, so prepare for freezing temperatures as the day transitions.

Saturday promises mostly sunny skies and slightly higher temperatures, reaching 36 degrees by afternoon. Winds will shift to the southwest at around 7 mph, bringing slightly milder air. For those planning to head out Saturday night, lows will hover around 27 degrees under mostly cloudy skies.

Sunday’s forecast is even better, with highs jumping to 43 degrees and clouds moving in by the afternoon. Although overnight lows will drop to 23 degrees, a sunny start to Monday is expected, with temperatures peaking at 45 degrees.

Drivers are encouraged to take precautions during the early mornings this weekend, as residual ice from freezing temperatures may linger on roadways. Plan ahead for a mix of layers, especially if you’re venturing out early or late in the day.

Looking ahead, Tuesday and Wednesday will continue the warming trend, with highs near 50 degrees by midweek.
