Virginia Weather: Warmer Tuesday Ahead, Rain Moves in Later This Week

Annandale, VA – After a cold start to the week, temperatures in Northern Virginia are set to climb Tuesday before rain returns midweek. Residents can expect mostly sunny skies and highs near 60°F Tuesday, a welcome break from the chilly conditions overnight.

According to the National Weather Service, calm winds will shift westward at around 6 mph by the afternoon. Tuesday night will be mostly clear, with temperatures dropping to 35°F as northwest winds increase slightly. By Wednesday, highs will reach 61°F under mostly sunny conditions, but clouds will build overnight as the next weather system approaches.

Rain chances increase Thursday, with showers likely in the afternoon. The high will be near 60°F, but precipitation chances climb to 60% by evening. Thursday night will see lingering rain, with temperatures cooling to 38°F. By Friday, skies will clear, bringing cooler temperatures, with a high near 51°F under mostly sunny conditions.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday will be the warmest day, reaching 58°F under partly sunny skies. However, a cooldown arrives Sunday, with highs dropping to 43°F.
