Virginia Beach, VA – Clear skies and warm sun will dominate Virginia Beach through Friday, but weekend travel plans could be disrupted by thunderstorms.

According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, Wednesday, June 4, will bring calm, sunny conditions with a high near 81°F. Winds will pick up slightly from the south at 5 to 13 mph by midday. But by Saturday, June 7, rain chances will climb to 50%, with thunderstorms possible after 2 p.m. and continuing into Saturday night.

Drivers along U.S. Route 58 and I-264 should stay alert, especially during the afternoon hours Saturday when scattered storms could reduce visibility and increase hydroplaning risks. Light showers may linger into Sunday, so those planning outdoor events or beach visits should check hourly updates.

Thursday and Friday will be ideal for errands or beachgoing, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 80°F. However, the air will stay humid, and by Friday night, increased cloud cover signals the approaching change.

For residents and visitors: charge electronics in case of weekend outages, monitor local alerts, and avoid flooded roadways. The upcoming rain won’t be extreme, but isolated downpours could impact driving and outdoor safety.

Five-Day Forecast:

  • Tuesday, June 3: Sunny, high near 80°F
  • Wednesday, June 4: Sunny, high near 81°F
  • Thursday, June 5: Partly sunny, high near 80°F
  • Friday, June 6: Mostly sunny, high near 79°F
  • Saturday, June 7: Chance of thunderstorms after 2 p.m., high near 85°F (50% chance of rain)
