Blacksburg, VA – Increasing clouds and breezy conditions will take hold this afternoon, with scattered showers developing west of the Blue Ridge by this evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, temperatures will climb into the low to mid-70s today before a weak cold front triggers showers after 7 p.m., mainly across western Virginia and southeast West Virginia. A few rumbles of thunder are possible in these areas through late evening.

Communities including Blacksburg, Roanoke, and Bluefield will see the highest chance for rain tonight, with brief showers potentially creating slick spots along U.S. 460 and I-81. Farther east toward Lynchburg and Danville, conditions remain mostly dry with only increasing cloud cover.

The weekend brings improving conditions, with Saturday turning partly sunny and warmer, followed by highs reaching the mid-70s to low 80s by Sunday under mostly sunny skies.

Residents should remain aware of changing conditions this evening, especially west of the Blue Ridge. Rain chances diminish overnight, with warmer and drier weather expected to continue into early next week.
