Virginia Troopers Save 40-Year-Old Woman Trapped in Pind Off I-66

Fairfax County, VA – Virginia State Police rescued a 40-year-old woman after her vehicle became submerged in a retention pond Friday night. The incident occurred at approximately 9:40 p.m. off Interstate 66 eastbound near exit 60 (Route 123).

Troopers A. King and B. Foret arrived to find the vehicle had veered off the road and plunged into the pond. The car was fully submerged, trapping the woman inside. The troopers acted quickly, jumping into the cold water to reach her. They were able to pull her out through the sunroof.

According to Virginia State Police, the woman was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. EMS also evaluated the troopers for cold exposure after their rescue efforts.

The crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the cause.
