Richmond, Virginia – Residents across eastern and central Virginia can enjoy another stretch of comfortable summer weather through Friday before warmer, more humid conditions return during the weekend. Dry air and sunshine will provide excellent conditions for outdoor activities, travel, and recreation before shower and thunderstorm chances increase on Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, afternoon highs today will reach the mid to upper 80s across much of the region, with noticeably lower humidity than earlier this week. Temperatures are expected to reach 88 degrees in Richmond and Farmville, 87 in Williamsburg and Norfolk, 86 in South Hill, Emporia, and Elizabeth City, 85 in Petersburg, Franklin, Tappahannock, and Windsor, 84 in Cambridge and Salisbury, and 82 degrees near Accomack.
Dry weather and comfortable humidity levels will continue Friday across eastern Virginia, including Richmond, Williamsburg, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Petersburg, and the Northern Neck. Travel along Interstates 64, 95, and 85 should remain free of weather-related disruptions through the end of the workweek.
Saturday will be slightly warmer with humidity beginning to increase, although most locations are expected to remain dry. By Sunday, a more humid air mass returns, bringing the chance for showers and thunderstorms across the region. While widespread severe weather is not anticipated at this time, locally heavy downpours and lightning could affect outdoor plans.
