Augusta County, VA – Virginia State Police are investigating a deadly hit-and-run that claimed the life of a 25-year-old e-bike rider on Route 340 in Augusta County Sunday night.

According to Virginia State Police, the crash happened around 9 p.m. on September 14, 2025, along Stuarts Draft Highway near Ladd Road. Investigators said a northbound Kia Sorento struck an e-bike that was also traveling northbound.

The e-bike rider, identified as Dylan C. Knowles, 25, of Waynesboro, died at the scene.

Police said the driver of the Kia initially fled but was later arrested with help from the Waynesboro Police Department. Samuel W. Call, 36, of Waynesboro, has been charged with driving while intoxicated and felony hit-and-run.

Call is currently being held at Middle River Regional Jail. The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office is also assisting in the investigation.
